Rostelemail Message Handling System
(X.400 e-mail)

JSC Central telegraph offers the services of Rostelemail message handling system (e-mail) which is a complex of documentary telecommunication service, both traditional (telex and telegram) and modern (e-mail, fax communication, informational and inquiry services). Its services allow corporate customers to organize their reliable and accurate handling of documents. X.400 standard was selected as a base technology for the mail system. This standard ensures a wide range of services and flexible routing, it is the only internationally acknowledge open standard of distributed e-mail, designed for the development of systems built on its basis.

A user of this system is able to:

• Send and receive messages from other subscribers of Rostelemail Administration management Domain (ADMD);
• Exchange messages with subscribers of Private Management Domains (PRMD) connected with one of the nodes of ADMD of Rostelemail system, with subscribers of other mail system operating in X.400 standard (SovMail, RosMail, UkrMail, ArmMail, KazMail, MultiNet), as well as with subscribers of Internet e-mail;
• Open own subsystem (PRMD) with allocation of corresponding address space within Rostelemail's address space.

At the same time a user can receive a number of Telex network (receiving/sending of telex messages) and an identification number of Comfax subscriber (sending and receiving of fax and voice messages with notification on delivery / non-delivery of messages). A user can also send and receive telegraph messages.

Sending of messages with this system ensures:

• Checking of destination address;
• Redirection of the message;
• Preparation of message distribution lists;
• Delivery of the message to multiple addresses, processing of the message according to its urgency level (high urgency, normal, low urgency);
• Notification on the delivery / non-delivery of the message;
• Indication of message delivery time;
• Notification on the reception / non-reception of the message by the addressee, deferred delivery of the message.

In order to use Rostelemail system you just need to have an IBM PC/AT personal computer (386 or better) and access lines (X.25 or TCP/IP protocol). Besides that the system can be accessed from the guest entrance to Central Telegraph's server. For system operation it is necessary to install special software.

The e-mail system also provides access to the directory service (X.500 standard) and maintenance of own corporate directory service.

Due to the above mentioned parameters a user gets an integrated system of traditional and modern documentary telecommunication services and their technical and software support.

Services of X.400 e-mail can be also provided at the front-office of JSC Central Telegraph (7, Tverskaya Street).
