Telex

International and domestic long-distance TELEX network provides a subscriber with a bilateral exchange of documentary messages with other subscribers located in Russia, CIS and Baltic states and in far abroad countries; it also allows to maintain negotiations in real-time mode (dialog mode). At the same tine Telex subscribers can also send and receive telegrams.

Telex subscribers can use following equipment as their subscriber terminals:

• telegraph machine;
• software/hardware complex;
• PC with a special TARS modem and software emulating operations of a telegraph machine.

For the organization of access to Telex network JSC Central Telegraph organizes a telegraph channel for the subscriber from the Telex station to the subscriber terminal with a direct wire or compression equipment. JSC Central Telegraph also provides Telex subscribers with a number of additional services:

• direct call to a subscriber;
• circular connection with a group of subscribers;
• conference communication with a group of subscribers according to a preliminary defined list;
• conference communication with a group of subscribers;
• call to a subscriber with an abridged number;
• automated reassignment of incoming calls to another subscriber unit;
• immediate notification by Telex service about the duration of an outgoing connection;
• issue of a statement about the quantity and the duration of all connections for each Telex number over a month;
• issue of a bill for provided Telex services;
• provision of inquiry services;
• Access to the service is also possible over the radio network (Radiotelex service). In this case the service can be organized much quicker, since it is not necessary to install a wired channel from the subscriber to the Telex station. For this purpose special software emulating telegraph machine will be installed on subscriber's PC along with special equipment (radio package assembler/ dissembler). (See RADIOTEL section).

Telex service is the only type of documentary connection possessing legal force and performed in real-time mode.

Transfer and reception of telex messages can be also done at the front-office of JSC Central Telegraph.
